Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engrs
The Corps is responsible for providing engineering support to the army equipment ranging from light vehicles to tanks, guns, missiles, radars, computers, helicopters, communication equipment, night vision devices, simulators and so on during war and peace. Over the years there has been phenomenal rise in the sophistication, quantum and variety of military hardware. The Corps has effectively met the challenges arising from the proliferation of such multi-disciplinary high technology military hardware through continuous evolution of its engineering support system.

Omnia Facimus – We can do everything – was what sustained the Corps in its formative years. On the transformation into the EME, it was felt that a Corps motto, in keeping with the Indian ethos, should be selected. To reflect the work culture amongst the craftsmen, the motto `Karm Hi Dharm’ was selected. Translated into English the motto is, `Work is Supreme Duty’.

The Corps has always emerged glorious when called upon to aid civil authorities in an emergency or national calamity. The recovery of Island Express coaches from Ashtamudi Lake in Kerala, aid during All India Postal Strike, repairing bio-medical and life saving equipment and appliances held by civil hospitals in the war-ravaged Jaffna peninsula (Sri Lanka), resulted in wide appreciation and gratitude. During the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Brig ML Garg, a retired EME officer rendered yeoman service with utter disregard for his own life, for which he was awarded Kirti Chakra. These are only a few of the exceptionally fine examples of the dedication of the men of the Corps of EME towards the nation.
